Blinkie and co.

I've been playing around with clay lately, making things like a Dr. Robotnik toy, a Yellow Devil from the Mega Man series, and a work-in-progress Dr. Wily to go with him.

The little red one started as a topper for one of those laser pointers. (The red stone on top glows bright red.) The blue one didn't work quite as well in the same regard.

I don't really remember what I was thinking when I made the larger one. The top was originally one of those mini containers for crafts, filled with a liquid plastic labelled Puzzle Saver. The "brain" must have been made out of the wrong clay, because it ended up partially dissolving and dying the Puzzle Saver.

So I got to thinking, how'd they look as characters, and these pictures are the results.

Update 05-08-2012

Well, I've graduated from community college after three short years. Plenty of stuff I would have like to have done differently, plenty of things I wish I had had the chance to do (or have taken the chance to do), but as they say you can't change the past, only learn from it and I like to think I learned an awful lot.

All that's left to do is go to the ceremony, wear the fancy gown and get that little piece of paper to make it all official.

I don't anticipate that I'll be getting a job in the animation industry anytime soon. Right now I'll take whatever I find, and hope that my environmental problems don't get in the way. (That's a story for another day.)

Right now, I'm bringing one of the earliest characters up to bat, in hope that he might be an appealing character to pitch for kid's shows, the problem being I've spent so much time writing "dark" and "complex" stories, trying to learn to think in a "light" and "simplistic" fashion is kind of, well, tricky. Watching shows that I don't usually watch, like Rugrats for example, is somewhat of a help.

It's my hope that in the next few months that in addition to a steady job, I can start doing commission work. It's something I've talked about doing for awhile and as we all know, no one ever got anything done just talking about it.

Well, I can't think of anything else to write about, so, that's it for all. Thanks for reading.

Redone Maximus Drone finished

(c) WaffleAfterHours 2010 - 2012

Finally got this finished after quite awhile.

The original circa 2010 is here; http://www.thesurfingwaffleah.blogspot.ca/2012/02/original-oc-maximus-drone.html

The new version's outline is here; http://www.thesurfingwaffleah.blogspot.ca/2012/04/ocs-maximus-redesign-wip.html

This new design isn't as alien as before but is still an improvement in my humble opinion.

The Animation Final

It's missing some colour, but it's still the best animation I've done so far. Much better than 4our was my first year.

Fake Movie Posters # 1 - "Nerd With A Pistol"

This is the first of a series of movie posters I'm doing for fun and practice. "Nerd With A Pistol" is a parody of "Hobo With A Shotgun". The poster itself was inspired by the movie poster of Paranoia, which starred Brad "Cinema Snob" Jones.

There is currently no storyline attached to the name. Mainly because I don't feel it's a strong enough concept. At least, right now. But it makes for a goofy picture ;P

(It's a fake gun by the way.)

Apologies for lack of new updates.

I've been focused on school as of late. It's the final full week of class, and we had Monday off due to Easter. So, to say that the pressure's on is an understatement.

I'd go into further detail, but I'm just going to say that whether I graduate or not, it is my intent to further improve myself as an artist, and by extension, a person. It's a long road ahead to employment and more importantly, my dreams, but at least now I can see the road, figuratively speaking.
